Enid Harris was born in St. Mary, Jamaica on July 20, 1939. She attended the Shortwood Teachers’ College and the Mico Teachers’ College. Enid also completed long-distance education courses at the University of the West Indies. She started her career in education as a Junior Teacher at the primary level. She specialized in Adult Education and was a forerunner for the JAMAL program which was geared towards assisting adults learn to read and write in English.
She taught at Friendship Primary school in St. Catherine, where she transitioned to a Senior Teacher, then Vice Principal and then Principal. Enid received the honor of the Order of Distinction from the government of Jamaica.
After over 40 years in the field of education, Enid retired from formal teaching. She now resides in Canada where she focuses on her family and sharing her wealth of knowledge in both education and life itself.
